THE CIRCULAR JOURNEY OF YOUR ENFORCE APPAREL
GROWING BAMBOO
Bamboo is a very sustainable resource, requiring one tenth the water supply as cotton to grow, with no need for pesticides or fertilizers. It is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, with some species growing 35 inches in one day. As a perennial crop, it grows back without replanting. Bamboo contributes to soil building, helps to prevent soil erosion and recycles carbon dioxide very efficiently.
SPINNING BAMBOO
SPINNING BAMBOO
Bamboo is classified as a regenerated fiber because the cellulose fibers need to be softened and transformed before they can be spun into fabric. Over the decades, that process has continued to become more and more eco-friendly. We search for suppliers who utilize yarn that is certified organic by OCIA (The Organic Crop Improvement Association) in facilities that are Oeko-Tex 100 certified. This certification ensures the finished fiber has been tested for any chemicals that may be of detriment to the environment or harmful to the individuals involved in it’s production.
MAKING BAMBOO APPAREL
MAKING BAMBOO APPAREL
At Enforce, we work with suppliers who seek out the most eco-responsible processes throughout the entire supply chain. One of our largest T-shirt manufacturers uses state-of-the-art knitting machines to reduce energy consumption, their dye house uses only nontoxic materials and their cutting and sewing departments recycle textile waste. Small cutoff pieces are repurposed as handkerchiefs and towels. The discharged water is treated for particulates, acidity and temperature before it is sent to the municipal sanitary authority. All sewing facilities are hospitable and conducive to a positive working environment.
END OF USE/ RETURNING TO NATURE
END OF USE/ RETURNING TO NATURE
When you are finished wearing your favorite bamboo clothes and they have come to the end of their useful life, they can be recycled or re-purposed. Textiles can be broken down into fibers that can be manufactured into other products.
Bamboo fiber is biodegradable, broken down in the soil by micro organisms and sunlight. Having reached the end of its useful life, clothing made from bamboo can be composted and disposed of in an organic and environmentally friendly manner.
